Jennifer Lopez Reveals She 'Didn't Get Paid' For 'Hustlers'

November 19, 2019

Jennifer Lopez was severely underpaid for her work in Hustlers.

Lopez, who was named Icon of the Year by GQ, told the magazine she didn’t receive a paycheck to star and produce the blockbuster stripper drama.

"I do things because I love them. I didn't get paid a whole bunch of money for ‘Hustlers’," the 50-year-old said.

"I did it for free and produced it. I bank on myself. That's the Jenny From the Block. I do what I want, I do what I love.”

While she didn’t elaborate, it’s very likely that instead of an upfront salary J.Lo received a back-end deal that will pay her a portion of the film’s profits.

Regardless, the Bronx-born diva disclosed money isn’t what drives her to succeed in her various creative endeavors.

"I've never been motivated by money,” she added. “I've always been motivated by -- I wanna be a great actress, a great singer, a great dancer -- I wanna make movies, I wanna make music. And the money came along with that."

That being said, the “Dinero” singer found it amusing when asked if money makes her horny.

"A lot of things make me horny -- I don't think money is one of them,” Lopez responded laughingly. “But I do like money! Money is an amazing thing! I don't know that it turns me on, but it does make things easier."

“Hustlers” was reportedly made for $20 million and earned $33.2 million during its opening weekend. The film, co-starring Constance Wu, KeKe Palmer and Lizzo, went on to make $145 million worldwide.

Lopez may soon see more perks from the critically-acclaimed role when award show nominations are announced in the upcoming months.
