Get At Me Dog: DMX and Snoop Dogg Set for Next 'Verzuz' Battle

'The Battle of the Dogs'

July 15, 2020

Guess the age old question is finally getting answered, Verzuz is letting the dogs out. Snoop Dogg and DMX are up next up to face off in an epic battle being dubbed “the battle of the dogs.”

The pairing of these two feels evenly matched and to tell you the truth, has us beyond hype. While they individually have different approaches to rap, each artist has a list of hits under his belt. DMX, with his ferocious delivery, is bound to hit us with classics like "Ruff Ryders' Anthem,” challenging Snoop with "Get At Me Dog, assuring that "X Gon' Give It to Ya.” And, as for Snoop and his laid back, “what it do?” persona, he’ll no doubt “Drop It Like Its Hot”, with a little bit of "Gin & Juice" cause really, it ain’t "Nuthin' but a 'G' Thang.”

Both X and Snoop have been in the game for decades, getting their start in the early 90s. Each boasts and expansive discography featuring some award-winning and record-breaking tracks.

DMX dropped his debut album “It's Dark and Hell Is Hot” back in 1998, to both critical acclaim and commercial success, debuting at number one on the Billboard 200. His follow up albums were just as successfully with Flesh of My Flesh, Blood of My Blood reaching the same Billboard heights and … And Then There Was X, DMX’s best-selling album, which went certified platinum six times. X has cemented himself as one of the best and most influential in the game, remaining popular to this day.

Snoop Dogg was discovered by Dr. Dre making his debut on Dre’s first solo album in 1992. It wasn’t until the following year that Snoop arrived with his own debut album Doggystyle, which also had it’s turn at debuting at number one on the Billboard 200, as well as the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums charts. Before he was dubbed the Doggfather, Snoop’s first album gave us “Gin & Juice,” and really, that’s all that needs to be said.

We definitely know were putting our bets on, but either way this one’s going to be one for the books. The DMX versus Snoop Dogg Verzuz “Battle of the Dogs” will take place next week on Wednesday, July 22. Mark your calendars, set a timer, have your mom call you to remind you, whatever works because you definitely don’t want to miss this one.
